Language Arts for Adults

A New Path

The greatest challenge facing many Ethiopian immigrants in their struggle to integrate into Israeli society is their issues with the language, in particular, with reading and writing. Coming from a preliterate culture that emphasizes oral tradition over the written word, learning to read and write in Hebrew not only challenges their language skills, but their literary cognition as well.

Feuerstein’s New Path program is a language arts program designed to help Ethiopian immigrants the cognitive barriers preventing them from strengthening the cognitive skills associated with literacy.

The Program

The New Path program utilizes tools from both Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment and the LPAD dynamic assessment in order to mediate and convey new habits targeted to change the participant’s input, thinking and learning processes. The program operates both Beginners and Advanced tracks, tailored to provide participants with more exact assistance.

The cost of treatment for a child with special cognitive needs is US$ 5,000
