In this lesson you will learn the definition of content in the learning of thinking skills and strategies and how the FIE program presents content and uses it in mediating for cognitive modifiability. The achievement of cognitive distance requires a generalized and transferable content that the learner can apply to a diverse range of specialized curricula and experiences. Contrasts are offered to other ways of teaching thinking. Examples from FIE instruments and specific content domains are presented. The differences in content inclusion in the FIE-Standard and FIE-Basic programs are noted and explained. The relationship to bridging is emphasized.
