The Theory of Structural Cognitive Modifiability
In this lesson you will learn about the genesis and development of the theory of structural cognitive modifiability, and the ways in which its development relates to the applied programs derived from it—the Learning Propensity Assessment Device (LPAD), the Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) programs, and the shaping of modifying environments (SME).
Professor Feuerstein discusses the nature of cognitive modifiability, its validation through recent findings in the neurosciences, and its need in modern society. The traditionally considered barriers to change are identified, and the ways in which the applied programs overcome these barriers are described. A number of illustrative case examples are presented.
