Autistic Spectrum and Down syndrome Evaluation and Treatment Program
The Feuerstein Institute has been at the forefront of Autistic Spectrum and Down’s syndrome advocacy for decades. Believing in their inherent abilities, Feuerstein has mapped out the specific functioning typical to the autistic and Down syndrome populations and developed both evaluation and remedial tools geared toward maximizing their abilities.
In-depth Early Childhood Assessment
Every child is unique, and so are their personal and educational needs. Our Early Assessment team is trained to evaluate babies and young children with special needs, providing an early start for intervention.
Intensive Treatment Program
The Intensive Treatment program caters to a wide spectrum of children on various functional levels. Clientele include children with learning disabilities and various syndromes, many of whom are mainstreamed into regular schools.
Feuerstein’s goal is to create a tailor-made program for every child, which will develop their latent potential and raise their overall level of functioning. Based on the outcome of their assessment, an individualized program is prepared, integrating Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment tools and the requisite allied health therapies. When needed, Feuerstein will refer to and liaise with other services, and with the child’s school to help create an optimal learning plan.
Consultancy and Counseling
The Children’s Clinic offers parent education courses in basic theory and practice of mediation, as well as individual counseling and tips to promote maximal independence and well-being of children with cognitive or learning difficulties.
After-school Inclusion Program
The after-school program caters to children with special needs from age four to adolescence. The program is intended to both prepare children for mainstreaming, as well as provide support to children who have already done so. Emphasis is placed on group skills, learning habits, reading and writing. Children generally attend the program for 2-5 years, depending on their progress.
